WRP Executive Committee Meeting

Draft Minutes for September 23 and 24th Panel Meeting approved for distribution to Panel members.
Mexico Representative to Panel - Discussed facilitation of the appointment of a Mexico representative. Ed Theriot described the process currently underway for selection of a representative for the Gulf of Mexico Panel through the State Dept. rep. on the ANSTF. The Excom decided to proceed in identifying a representative. Bill Harvey will coordinate with the Gulf of Mexico Program personnel in identifying appropriate representatives for the WRP.
Support Letters At the Sept. Panel meeting, the EXCOM was directed to write support/information letters for particular issues; ballast water guidelines, scientists letter supporting clean list approach by FWS and Colorado River Basin management plan. Bill Harvey will draft a brief letter supporting scientists position for clean list for invasives and a redraft of Andy=s ballast water letter. Max and Mark will assist with ballast water letter. Bill will send copies to Linda to circulate to EXCOM and then provide Panel two weeks for comment.
Status of Western Governor=s federal agency IPA staff position to address invasives. The USFWS continues to study implementation. Western Regional Directorate and Washington Office has been briefed. Funding for IPA must be addressed.
Article for American Water Works on Mitten Crab - American Water Works requested an article on mitten crab for their association publication. Andy Cohen is willing to provide an article and will contact Lloyd Hess, BOR Tracy Federal Fish for input.
Presentations on WRP before Western Water Council and California Water Commission - WRP has been asked to prepare and deliver presentations at the meetings of WWC and CWC in Nov and Dec. respectively. Jon Sjoberg, Nevada state member will present at WWC meeting in Reno.
Vacant Membership slots - For next EXCOM meeting, members are asked to consider appointments for vacant slots, inland conservation, inland academic, CALFED, . Linda will e-mail out the suggestions previously provided by Andy.
