WRP Executive Committee Meeting
Present
Draft Agenda for September 23 and 24th meeting approved with an addition. Linda is to contact Elliot Norse to obtain materials on marine biocontrol developed by the Institute(Complete 8/12).
Agenda has been mailed to Panel members and will be placed in Federal Register by ANSTF Ex. Secretary.
Draft amendment to WRP Guidelines to clarify provisions for mail in vote distributed to EXCOM. Comments to Linda prior to Sept 4th. Conference call.
Max and Linda gave brief report on Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force Meeting in DC in July. The draft Executive Order on Invasive Species should be signed within next few months.
Jim Carlton gave a presentation on the proposed national ANS survey guidelines that are being developed and proposed locations for use of survey. Most of focus for survey work is along east and west coast. The ANSTF discussed additions to its ex officio membership list to balance interests and geographic needs. Western interests appear under represented.
Status of Western Governor=s Invasive Species Resolution. The WGA passed resolution at
June meeting. Discussions underway with WGA to obtain a federal agency IPA staff position to address invasives.
Formation of Geographic subcommittee.- As a result of the vote of the WRP, the Panel wiull be developing geographic subcommittees. Prior to the Sept. meeting volunteers are requested to participate on organizing teams to draft agendas for the Sept. committees meetings. This will facilitate development of the l999 workplan in Sept. Andy will ask Marcia Brockbank to chair organizing team for coastal committee(Marcia has agreed to do this as of 8/ll). Marilyn Leland has offered her and Joel Kopps assistance. Bill Harvey and Linda Drees will work on Inland Committee team.
