Free Preschool Young Naturalists Program Scheduled at National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center on February 22
The National Wildlife Refuges Visitor Center on Roanoke Island invites children 5 and under and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers to explore the natural world through hands-on education during our Preschool Young Naturalists Program! The program is geared specifically for ages 2-5; however, we welcome toddlers and infants as a part of a group or older children as helpers. On Friday, February 22, we will discover the colors of nature during two identical sessions from 9:30-10:30 am and from 1:00-2:00 pm. Each hour-long session will include indoor and outdoor activities. Be prepared to have fun learning about nature while taking a hike, hearing a story, doing a craft or exploring the exhibit hall.
Everyone should come prepared for outdoor exploration, with closed-toe shoes, long pants, and layers appropriate for the weather. In the event of severe weather, we may cancel any outdoor parts of the activities. No registration is required at this time. All children attending the program must be supervised by an adult. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call ahead with any special needs you may have.
