Thanks to a State Trails Grant recently awarded to the Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society, Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge will be adding more than 250 feet to the existing boardwalk on Creef Cut Wildlife Trail. The Society is seeking bids for construction of the boardwalk and has prepared a Bid Package which may be obtained by contacting the refuge office in Manteo at 252-473-1131 ext 230, emailing, or stopping by the office at 708 N Highway 64 in Manteo. Tom White, President for the non-profit refuge support group commented, "We hope there's a lot of interest from local builders. The trail is in a beautiful freshwater marsh and will provide opportunities for a lot of visitors to see important refuge habitat." For more information or to receive a bid package, please contact Bonnie Strawser at the above telephone number or email address.
