Refuge Fire Program Welcomes Terrie Oatman

Terrie Taylor-Oatman is among the new faces seen daily at the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge Operations Office in East Lake, NC. And, hers is the friendly and efficient voice known to Refuge staff as "Dispatch".

 

Terrie Oatman, Elizabeth City native, has recently joined the Fire Program staff of Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Ms. Oatman's duties on the refuge include serving as dispatch and providing administrative support,

Ms. Oatman (formerly Taylor) graduated from Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, NC and received her BA in History from Elizabeth City State University in 2004. She is currently enrolled in a NC Teacher Certification Program through Elizabeth City State University and plans to begin work on her Master's program in the Fall of 2006.

Ms. Oatman was a Command And Control Specialist in the US Air Force and lived in Fayetteville prior to moving to back to Elizabeth City to take care of her parents. Her husband, Darnell, was with the US Navy for 8 years. The Oatman's live with their three children, Jakeem, Jamond, and Jaleia, in Elizabeth City.
