Strawser Receives 2006 Conservation Communicator Award from NC Soil and Water Conservation Society

On January 8, Bonnie Strawser, Wildlife Interpretive Specialist for Alligator River and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges, was presented with the 2006 NC Conservation Communicator Award by the Hugh Hammond Bennett Chapter of the NC Soil and Water Conservation Society. Bob Glennon, Chapter member, Resource Planner for the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and nominator for Strawser, presented the award.

Glennon emphasized Strawser's conservation communication successes in the areas of media relations and use of internet. He also commented on the highly developed refuge public use and volunteer programs.

Strawser has supervised the public use, outreach, and volunteer programs on Alligator River and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges since 1980.
