ELECTION BY VOLUNTEER

FOR MEMBERSHIP IN

COASTAL WILDLIFE REFUGE SOCIETY

 

Individuals who volunteer their services in support of Alligator River and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges may qualify for membership in Coastal Wildlife Refuge Society as provided in its bylaws.  Article IV - Membership reads as follows:

 

            “Any individual or organization that accepts the purpose of the Society, is willing to assist the Society, and qualifies by the payment of dues or the providing of volunteer service as stated herein, shall be eligible for membership.  Only members in good standing shall be permitted to vote at the annual meeting.  Classes of memberships and dues or volunteer hours for each class shall be as follows:

                        Regular Member - - - - - -  $10 or one hour as a volunteer annually

                        Wildlife Member  - - - - - - $50 annually

                        Donor Member - - - - - - -  $100 annually

                        Life Member - - - - - - - - - $250 or 500 cumulative volunteer hours

                        Business Member  - - - - -  $500 annually”

 

The purpose of the Society (CWRS) as stated in Article II reads as follows:

 

“The purpose of this organization is to promote public appreciation of and support for wildlife refuges under the jurisdiction of the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or its successor.

             1.  The Society shall assist in the recruitment of volunteers to help with                                     

                  the work of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

             2.  The Society shall raise funds by dues, donations, and sales to be used                                 

                  solely for administration and to support Fish and Wildlife service                             

                  projects requested by the Alligator River Refuge Manager and                               

                  approved by the Society’s Board of Directors.”

 

As a volunteer of your services in these wildlife refuges, upon meeting the criteria for membership as stated in the bylaws quoted above, you may elect to become a member of the Society.  Since the membership year is the calendar year, a one year membership will extend from the date of your qualification until December 31 of the next succeeding calendar year.
