Assessment & Monitoring

The Assessment and Monitoring (A&M) Branch supports other FWS programs, partners and the public by collecting and analyzing prioritized fish and wildlife information. The branch consists of four primary program areas:

Examples of A&M services include population inventories, terrestrial and aquatic habitat assessment, contaminant surveys and analysis and ecological assessments. The branch compiles, assesses and distributes ecological information as written reports, data sets and Geographic Information System (GIS) products. Scientific peer review is a key component of projects. The A&M branch also provides technical assistance to other agencies, cooperators and the public.
