Shortnose Sturgeon Recovery

The National Marine Fisheries Service has the lead in recovering the endangered shortnose sturgeon population in the Connecticut River basin. The This link opens in a new windowRecovery Plan notes that the existing population is split, with some above and some below the Holyoke dam. It currently calls for modification of passage structures at the dam to ensure movement between the two populations in the river.
