Pacific Region Leader Honored for Diversity Accomplishments


Don Weathers, the Pacific Region's Assistant Regional Director for Budget and Administration, recently received a 2009 Diversity Champion Award from the Department of the Interior's Office of Civil Rights. Weathers was recognized for his strong commitment to promoting equal opportunity through his hiring of women, minorities, veterans and people with disabilities. He also supports successful partnerships with community groups such as Self-Enhancement,Inc. programs for at-risk youth and Mount Hood Community College, where he has offered internships in his office to minorities and students with disabilities. DOI officials cited him for his "understanding and open-mindedness toward diversity and unity" in and out of the workplace.
