Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Pride MonthLesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Pride Month or LGBT pride refers to a world wide movement and philosophy asserting that LGBT individuals should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity and that orientation and identity are inherent and cannot be intentionally altered. Marches and celebrations of 'Gay' Pride are held worldwide throughout the month of June, in commemoration of the Stonewall Riots which took place during June 1969 in New York City. Stonewall is generally viewed as the beginning of the modern Gay rights movement. The main symbol of GLBT pride is the rainbow flag.
