| May 8-11 | Horicon Marsh Bird Festival - Marsh-wide event. Guided birding hikes, bus and boat tours, kids activities, bird banding demos, live birds of prey and special exhibits. For more information, visit the Horicon Marsh Bird Club |
| May 14 | Birding Costa Rica - (7:00-8:00 p.m. at Horicon Refuge Visitor Center) Learn about the plight of the Great Green Macaw and conservation efforts as well as other birds and wildlife that call Costa Rica home. Sponsored by Friends of Horicon NWR. |

| June 6 | Redhead Trail Hike - (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) Celebrate National Trails Day with a hike through field, forest and wetland. Meet at the main lot at the Auto Tour Route off Hwy. 49. Trail: 2.5 miles - easy to moderate difficulty. Bring water and sturdy shoes. |
| June 11 | Native American Reenactment by Dirty Kettle - Enjoy an evening of Native American music, drumming and dance. Meet at the Horicon Refuge Visitor Center. Time TBA. Call 920-387-2658. Sponsored by the Friends of Horicon NWR. |
| June 12 | Wetland Water Bugs - (9:00 -10:00 a.m.) For young explorers of all ages. Join us to collect aquatic creatures from the marsh and learn how they adapt to survive. Meet at the boardwalk (Egret Trail) at the refuge auto tour route, off of Hwy. 49. |

National Public Lands Volunteer Work Day - (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) Celebrate National Public Lands Day by helping refuge staff and volunteers to remove invasive plants on the refuge. Long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves are recommended. Meet at the Horicon Refuge Visitor Center. Basic Birding Hike - (9:00 -10:00 a.m.) Refuge staff will guide you along the Red Fox Trail for a great opportunity to learn how to find birds in three different habitats. Bring your own binocs or borrow ours. Meet at the Egret Trail boardwalk parking lot off of the refuge auto tour route off of Hwy. 49. |

National Wildlife Refuge Celebration - (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) Celebrate National Wildlife Refuges with activities at Horicon Refuge! Morning 5K run/walk on Auto Tour Route. Activites and programs throughout the day. For run/walk information, visit the Fond du Lac Running Club Waterfowl Watch - (9:00 -11:00 a.m.) Refuge staff will have spotting scopes set up for you to view the flocks of migrating waterfowl. Meet at the first pull-out along Main Dike Road. Birding Old Marsh Road - (9:00 -10:00 a.m.) Opportunity to view birds in an area of the refuge that is only open seasonally. Bring your own binocs or borrow ours. Meet at the Egret Trail boardwalk parking lot off of the refuge auto tour off of Hwy 49.
