Tishomingo NWR Initiates "Volunteer Refuge Watch"
10 Region, July 1, 2001
Print Friendly Version
Tishomingo NWR initiated a program designed to train and mentor volunteers to serve as supplemental "eyes and ears" for Refuge staff. Once trained, "Refuge Watch" volunteers sign up to patrol anywhere on the Refuge any day of the week. Typical "Watch" activities include the dissemination of literature to visitors, performing light maintenance, conducting biological inventories, and reporting on the state of public use areas. Watch schedules are arranged for day or evening hours after completion of four hours of mandatory training.
