Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and the Friends of Great Swamp had a table display and greeted patrons at the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Winter Festival performance. The table display included 2013 photo contest winners, Refuge maps and rack cards and information about our 2014 celebrations. This year the refuge is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, 50th anniversary of the dedication for the refuge and the 15th year anniversary of the Friends group. Friends members attended and talked with interested concert goers and passed out literature, including a card, which, when presented at the Helen C. Fenske Visitor Center, will entitle them to a “free gift”. It was a great way to bring our conservation message to the heart of Newark, New Jersey.
