As frigid winter temperatures gave way to spring like weather, partners rallied to remove refuse from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area on April 5, 2013.

Staff from the Middle Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge joined forces with State Representative Jerry Costello, Jr. staffer Erica Fultz, Illinois Department of Natural Resources staff, members from the Lower Kaskaskia Stakeholders Inc., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Kaskaskia Rivers Project staff, Director of the Randolph County Economic Development, members of the Kaskaskia River Boat Club, Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District staff, and employees of the TMW Steel Processing Plant.
