Friends Groups Use Grant to Join Together on Upper Miss Refuge

The Friends of the Refuge Headwaters (Winona District) received a $5,000 grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation to hold a Mini-Friends Workshop for Friends groups that support the Upper Mississippi River. The participating Friends organizations expanded to include:

  • Friends of the Refuge Headwaters
  • Friends of Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge
  • Upper Mississippi River Interpretive Association (LaCrosse District)
  • Friends of Pool 9 (McGrego District)
  • Mississippi River Stewards (Savanna District)
  • Friends of Horicon National Wildlife Refuge
  • Friends of Necedah National Wildlife Refuge
  • Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge
  • Friends of Whitewater State Park

In all, more than 35 people participated in the two-day workshop which was held at the LaCrosse District Visitor Center.
