Southwest Region, April 24, 2012
Print Friendly Version

A member of the refuge staff gave an Earth Day presentation to all classes, K – 5th grades, from Double Adobe Elementary School at Cochise College. The Earth Day event was coordinated by the college specifically for Double Adobe Elementary School. The presentation covered what the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (and more specifically the National Wildlife Refuge System) do and how their missions mesh nicely with the message Earth Day. The children also received a presentation from a member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Resources Conservation Service on sustainable farming and ranching. There was also a reptile display provided by the Huachuca Area Herpetological Association and a display demonstration wise water use and the benefits to hydroponic farming.
