The Children's Fair is held at the St. Joseph Civic Arena each year and Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge has participated every year since 2007.

The event was held April 24, 2012 and focused on children from birth to 5 years of age. This year the theme was "Leap into Spring" and the refuge had interactive activities and displays about wetlands coming alive in the spring. There are three sessions during the day. A total of 1,103 children and 797 adults attended. Thanks to social networking, ther was a wider draw with participants coming from Kansas City, Bonner Springs and Topeka as well as Omaha.
