Print Friendly Version

Little River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) hosted its second controlled deer hunt on November 11-13, 2011. Hunters selected for the hunt are drawn through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's Controlled Hunt Program. The refuge issued 30 permits, and the hunters are allowed to harvest either a buck or doe during the 2 1/2 day hunt. The refuge had 23 hunters participate in the hunt and they harvested 12 deer (9 bucks and 3 does) for a 52% harvest success rate.
