Little River NWR Controlled Deer Hunt
Southwest Region, November 6, 2011
Print Friendly Version

Little River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) hosted a controlled deer hunt on November 4-6, 2011. Hunters selected for the hunt are drawn through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's Controlled Hunt Program. The refuge issued 30 permits, and the hunters are allowed to harvest either a buck or doe during the 2 1/2 day hunt. The refuge had 23 hunters participate in the hunt and they harvested 10 deer (8 bucks and 2 does) for a 43% harvest success rate. Harvest success was good and hunters saw a lot of deer during the hunt.
