On Saturday Aug. 13, 2011, the Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge cooperated with several other agencies and organizations on the Missouri River Summit. The summit included a series of speakers on the Missouri River and introduced the particpants to the history and values of the Missouri River.

The summit occured in Columbia, Mo. at the USGS Columbia Environmental Reseach Complex.  BMNFWR Visitor Services Specialist Tim Haller gave a presentation on the Refuge and highlighted the Refuge River hydrology trailer during lunch. Other speakers from Missouri Department of Conservation, USGS and Missouri River Relief gave presentations on work and research being conducted on the river.

The summit proved to be an effective way to share information on the Missouri River. Thanks for the Missouri Stream Team Academy and USGS for hosting the event.
