The fire crew from Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge completed two prescribed burns on Little River NWR on March 10, 2011.  The fire crew prescribed burned a total of 176 acres (101 acre Unit 3 burn & 75 acre Unit 4 burn).  The prescribed burns were conducted to improve habitat conditions for migratory birds and resident wildlife species in two thinned pine plantations on the Refuge.
