Little River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) hosted a controlled deer hunt on November 5 through 7, 2010.  Hunters selected for the hunt are drawn through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's Controlled Hunt Program.  The refuge issues 30 permits, and the hunters are allowed to harvest either a buck or doe during the 2 1/2 day hunt.  The refuge had 29 hunters participate in the hunt and they harvested 20 deer (16 bucks and 4 does).  Harvest success was good and hunters saw a lot of deer during the hunt.
