The Chickasaw Nation provided two youth workers to Tishomingo NWR this summer to allow the high school students a learning experience on a National Wildlife Refuge.  The youth initiative program provided assistance with maintenance projects improving recreational areas for visitors. The pair worked diligently on building new picnic tables, installing charcoal grills, upgrading parking areas, and assisting the Wildlife Biologist with amphibian/reptile surveys. The employees participated in the seven week Chickasaw Nation Program at no charge to the refuge.
