Contractors began work on completing several sections of boundary fence on Leslie Canyon NWR that have been without fence for quite some time.  The general purpose of this fence is to keep neighboring cattle from entering the refuge and also as a deterrent to any illegal use on the refuge.  The areas to be fenced are extremely rugged and difficult to work in, as was found out by several refuge staff members who were tasked with locating the boundary survey markers for the contractors.  After making an adjustment or two to the original plans the fence was completed in early March.
