The Uvalde National Fish Hatchery (NFH) has employed a few of our future generation's adults by hiring three students as part of the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Program.  The students were hired on at the Uvalde NFH to assist with various wildlife activities/projects around the hatchery.  All three students were selected from the local community and enrolled in High School.  The YCC students exhibited an interest in the environment and wildlife conservation.  In addition to assisting with grass mowing and weed control, the YCC students assisted Uvalde NFH staff with fish harvesting/distribution, feeding, necropsy/dissections, pond management, wildlife trail preparation, and various other fish culturing activities.  The YCC Program was extremely successful at the Uvalde NFH by providing a wonderful opportunity for today's youth to enjoy and learn about the benefits of wildlife conservation.
