REGION 8: Service Hosts Tribal Wildlife Grant Workshops

The Pacific Southwest Region (Region 8) conducted three one-day workshops to assist federally recognized tribes in California and Nevada in developing successful Tribal Wildlife Grant proposals for Fiscal Year 2010. Approximately 25 people, representing nine southern California tribes and federal agencies (USDA Forest Service, BOR, BIA, EPA) attended the first workshop June 9, 2009,  in Riverside, Calif.  Workshops are scheduled for June 18 in Redding, Calif., and June 23 in Reno, Nev.  Tribal Wildlife Grants totaling $1.26 million were awarded to nine tribes in California and Nevada this year for conservation work on tribal lands.
