The refuge is stocking the newest wetland impoundment, created last year, on the refuge with beautiful shiner.  This impoundment was created specifically for Yaqui topminnow and beautiful shiner.  With the new population in this pond, beautiful shiner will be in four Refuge impoundments.  The fish to be used for this stocking effort were trapped from Twin Pond.  Additional fish will be provided from the captive breeding project taking place at Refuge Headquarters.  Fish reared at the headquarters will be used for start up populations in various places around the area and to supplement refuge populations.
