The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Reconvenes the Houston Toad Recovery Team

The Houston Toad Recovery Team (Team), which was reformed in 2008, reconvened for the first time at Bastrop State Park on November 24, 2008.  The new team consists of 11 members from a variety of agencies and organizations, such as Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, Environmental Defense Fund, Houston Zoo, Texas State University, Texas A&M University, Bastrop County, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  At the November 24, 2008 meeting, the Team committed to developing a new recovery strategy for the Houston toad in 2009 that will later become part of an updated Houston Toad Recovery Plan.  The Team also discussed threats that are currently facing the species as well as ongoing conservation efforts.
