Sevilleta NWR Recognizes the Contributions of Its Many Volunteers
Southwest Region, November 24, 2008
Print Friendly Version

Monday, November 24 was a night to celebrate the accomplishments of the many generous folks who volunteer their time to Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers were treated to a Thanksgiving style dinner cooked and served by the Refuge employees. The dinner has become a tradition and is just one way that the refuge employees show their thanks for all of the work that volunteers accomplish.

Approximately 40 people attended the dinner, both new and long time volunteers. Those who received special thanks this year included Bob Merkel, who earned his 100 hour pin, Amy Renaud and Jeff Fritz who each earned their 300 hour pins, and Laura Dillman, Joseph Charboneau, Sam Keller, Neal Waters and Melissa Wollangk who each earned their 500 hour pins. Overall, approximately 5,650 hours were donated to the Refuge in FY08.

The new year is off to a great start with four work camping couples already having volunteered their services to the Refuge.
