Swan Lake Fishing Clinic a Success!
Midwest Region, July 26, 2008
Print Friendly Version

Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) hosted a free kids fishing clinic on July 26, 2008. The event was coordinated by T.J. Peacher from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC)and  Brian Elkington from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) also assisted with publicity and site preparation. Bass Pro Shops in Columbia, Mo., donated fishing rods and other prizes to raffle to the participants. Biologists from each office taught the participants how to tie fishing knots, practice their casting and fish. Conservation staff also had live fish for them to see and touch. Kids of all ages came outdoors to learn about fishing and have fun! It was a great event and a fun time was had by all. We hope to see you there next summer!
