Southwest Region, May 16, 2008
Print Friendly Version

On May 16, 2008, the Service announced the opening of the public comment period for the draft Bexar County Karst Invertebrate Recovery Plan.  The nine karst invertebrate species addressed in this draft recovery plan spend their entire lives underground and are found in karst areas of Bexar County.  Karst is a type of terrain characterized by surface and subsurface features, such as sinkholes and caves that are produced by solution of bedrock.  The recovery strategy for these species is to reduce threats by securing an adequate quantity and quality of caves.  The Service is accepting public comments until July 15, 2008.
