Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Visits Border Region of Southeastern Arizona
Southwest Region, February 18, 2008
Print Friendly Version

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, and staff visited the border region this past month.  The purpose of the visit was to gather information on the planned border fence the Department of Homeland Security is charged with constructing.  Currently, U.S. Representative Giffords is proposing a bill that would make DHS more accountable in their spending.  The Congresswoman and her entourage toured the border, via mule, from White Gate to just east of the San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge.  The group was led by Anna Magoffin, a local rancher, who’s family is concerned about the planned border fence.
