Arkansas River Shiner Management Plan Meeting

Location: Canadian River Municipal Water Authority Headquarters, Sanford, TX.

Participants: Daniel Fenner – Oklahoma ESFO, John Hughes and Tom Cloud – Arlington ESFO, and representatives from academic institutions, federal and state agencies, water conservation districts, non-governmental organizations, and landowners along the Canadian River. Over 35 people attended

Executive summary: Daniel Fenner of the Oklahoma Ecological Services Field Office and John Hughes and Tom Cloud of the Arlington Ecological Services Field Office attended a meeting hosted by the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority on November 8, 2007.  The meeting gave participants of the Arkansas River Shiner Management Plan for the Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico an opportunity to provide updates on Arkansas River shiner population assessments and invasive species control efforts along the Canadian River in Texas and New Mexico.  Mr. Fenner and Mr. Hughes gave presentations on Arkansas River shiner population monitoring efforts conducted by the OKESFO and OKFRO and invasive species control efforts funded by the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program.  Over 35 people attended the meeting, including representatives of academic institutions, federal and state agencies, water conservation districts, non-governmental organizations, and landowners along the Canadian River.
