By Miriam Morrill, WUI Coordinator

Two Service firefighters from Sacramento National Wildlfie Refuge served as proctors during training exercises that provided firefighting training for 30 participants from 7 volunteer fire departments in Glenn County, California. between November 2 and 11.   Firefighters Mark Rakestraw  and Corry Favorite of the Sacramento NWR were proctors for the training which was provided through Fish and Wildlife funding under the Department of the Interior’s Ready Reserve Program and a contract between the Bureau of Land Management and the California Fire Chief’s Association.  The Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, Mendocino National Forest and CalFire Tehama-Glenn Unit provided staff and equipment for training exercises.  This is the first time volunteer fire departments and interagency fire partners in Glenn Co. have a support a training exercise of this magnitude.
