Service participates in Texas Forest Service Stewardship Committee annual meeting

On October 11, 2007, Jeffrey Reid, the Service’s representative to the Texas Forest Service’s Stewardship Committee, and PFW program coordinator Don Wilhelm attended the annual meeting of the Stewardship Committee in Austin, Texas.  The theme of this year’s meeting was “Cooperative Conservation for Private Lands.”   In attendance were approximately 50 people representing various conservation organizations and agencies from across Texas.  During the afternoon session, Don provided an overview of the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program, including updated information on geographic focus areas and other priorities of the PFW program in Texas.  At the conclusion of Don’s presentation, State botanist Chris Best provided a brief overview of the Texas Rare Plant Initiative.
