Feral Hog Study Continues At Laguna Atascosa NWR

During the month of May, 2007, the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, Texas A&M University – Kingsville feral hog study continued at Laguna Atascosa NWR.  Researchers trapped, sampled, and removed 64 feral hogs from the Laguna Atascosa Unit of the refuge and 8 feral hogs from the La Selva Verde Unit of Lower Rio Grande Valley NWR, which is managed by Laguna Atascosa NWR.  This trapping effort is being conducted for a study on the potential for avian influenza transmission in feral hogs.
