Columbia FRO employees Brian Elkington and Colby Wrasse participated in the 20th Annual Hallsville Aquatic Day, in Hallsville, MO.

Aquatic Day gives local 4th graders an opportunity to fish, play educational games and learn about aquatic ecosystems. To help teach these students, staff brought live Missouri River fish; ensuring a hands-on, memorable experience.  Included were species of gar, catfish, carp, crappie and buffalo.

All 110 students, and their teachers, were given the chance to touch the fish and learn about their role in the Missouri River ecosystem.  Staff also gave a demonstration of some gear types used to sample these fish.  This event was a great opportunity for Columbia FRO to teach and excite others about Missouri River aquatic resources.
