The refuge was the destination for some serious birding on April 21, 2007.  There were 39 members from the Tulsa Audubon Society along with Dr. Mia Revels, Associate Professor of Biology from Northeast State University, birding on the refuge.  Weather conditions made for excellent birding and over 75 species were recorded during the day.  The group was also able to see a Swainson's Warbler up close and personal as Dr. Revels netted and banded a male.
