Print Friendly Version

The annual Christmas Bird Count was held on Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, December 14, with more than 20 volunteers in attendance.

Near record temperatures during the first weeks prior to the count resulted in one of the warmest Christmas Bird Count Days on record.  As a result, a record number of species were observed - 99!  This also was the highest count for the year in the entire state of Missouri.  The previous record was 96.
