Print Friendly Version

Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge held its annual Volunteer Recognition Picnic, October 14, the last day of National Wildlife Refuge Week, to honor all of the individuals who have volunteered their time at the refuge the past 12 months.

More than 100 volunteered this year and 18 of those attended the catered event.

Certificates and pins were given to each person.  Nate Petersen was selected as the Volunteer of the Year for his work in the biological program assisting on several research projects.

He contributed a total of 491 hours at a value of more than $8,000.  His name was added to the Volunteer of the Year plaque that hangs in the refuge visitor contact station.
