Candidate Conservation Agreement for the Page springsnail, Pyrgulopsis morrisoni
Southwest Region, August 4, 2006
Print Friendly Version
Significant progress continues to be made on conservation of the Page Springsnail.  Field Office staff met with Director, Assistant Director, Hatchery Manager, and Mollusk coordinator of the Arizona Game and Fish Department to discuss the status of the development of a Candidate Conservation Agreement for the Page springsnail.  The mollusk coordinator informed the group that a draft agreement is nearly ready for submission to the Director and Fish and Wildlife Service.  The director was pleased with progress and inquired about FWS' view of draft agreement.  Staff informed the group that draft the agreement was developed collaboratively and believe that, with proper implementation, could ameliorate threats to the species.  Final tasks were identified for completion of agreement: establish take criteria, note conservation measures already implemented, and finalize monitoring protocol.
