Endangered Species Act Radio Interview
Southwest Region, July 17, 2006
Print Friendly Version
John Hughes of the West Texas Suboffice gave an interview on the Endangered Species Act (ESA) for the Playa Country radio show, which is sponsored by the Playa Lakes Joint Venture and is broadcast on High Plains Public Radio in portions of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.  Mr. Hughes’ interview sought to dispel myths surrounding the ESA, and highlighted the Service’s efforts to recover candidate and listed species using incentive-based initiatives such as the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, the Private Stewardship Grant Program, Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances, and Safe Harbor Agreements.  Mr. Hughes’ July 17 interview was followed on July 24 with an interview by Mr. Jay O’Brien, a longtime Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program cooperator who has been a supporter of incentive-based programs directed at the recovery of declining species.
