Isleta Students Learn About Bats
Southwest Region, July 10, 2006
Print Friendly Version
Twenty students from the Isleta Pueblo Summer Learning Program met in the Depatment of Education's library July 10 to hear Deputy Refuge Manager Dennis Prichard expound upon the diversity and value of bats.  Six adult leaders also learned about bat lifestyles, feeding habits and the importance of bats to the natural world.  Myths about bats were disproved, and facts on bats were illustrated with mounted museum specimens and a poster. The children, ages 7 to 12, helped Mr. Prichard assemble a bat house for unwanted bats excluded from residences.
