City of Tucson moves forward with HCP
Southwest Region, March 7, 2006
Print Friendly Version
The Tucson City Council heard an update of the City of Tucson HCP in a study session on March 7, 2006.  The Council members were updated on the need for interim policies to preclude degradation while the HCP is being developed, the need for an overlap in planning areas with Pima County to ensure consistency, proposals on how mitigation can be achieved, the anticiapted permit duration of 50 years, and ordinances that can be used to help achieve conservation.  The Council was concerned about the invasion of buffelgrass, maintaining the integrity of wildlife corridors, and that 1-acre parcels can currently be developed without regulations.
