Arkansas River shiner management on the Cimarron River
Southwest Region, March 2, 2006
Print Friendly Version
Representatives of the Oklahoma ES Field Office assisted the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Kansas Farm Bureau and Kansas Livestock Association with a public forum concerning the management of the Arkansas River shiner on the Cimarron River in Oklahoma and Kansas.  The forum was held March 2, 2006 at Buffalo, Oklahoma. Approximately 35 landowners attended the session.  The goal is development, implementation and monitoring of management actions along the Cimarron River that will provide conservation benefits beyond those realized through designation of critical habitat for the shiner, thus precluding the need for such designation.
