Region 2 represented at Farm Conservation Working Group
Southwest Region, February 23, 2006
Print Friendly Version
The Texas Partners for Fish and Wildlife program Coordinator represented Region 2 at the first meeting of the “Farm Conservation Program Working Group” held in Arlington, VA, on   February 22-23, 2006.   Each Region and each Service program was represented on the working group.  The primary purpose of this initial meeting was to develop a list of draft principles that will guide the Service’s efforts to work with USDA on Farm Bill Conservation Programs and the 2007 Reauthorization of the Farm Bill, which were to be presented at the late February Directorate Meeting.  The end product of the working group will be a “Farm Bill White Paper” which will outline the Service’s position on what changes we would like to see in the new Farm Bill and what things we would like to stay the same.   It is anticipated that the White Paper will be drafted early this summer.
