AESO briefed AGFD on the Chiricahua leopard frog state-wide Safe Harbor Agreement
Southwest Region, December 13, 2005
Print Friendly Version
AESO staff and Field Supervisor briefed the Director of Arizona Game and Fish Department on the progress of the draft Safe Harbor Agreement that they submitted on May 6, 2005, for state-wide Chiricahua leopard frog conservation.  The presentation focused on the how the safe harbor agreement activities and accomplishments would meet the draft recovery plan's recovery criteria.  In addition, an update was given on the Coronado National Forest's proposed Chiricahua leopard frog and aquatic habitat management guidelines.  These guidelines will provide an allotment permittee with information on what actions the Forest Service will take should Chiricahua leopard frogs move onto their allotment.  This issue has been a concern of the Malpai Borderlands Group and other ranchers with Federal allotments, and the guidelines should facilitate our efforts to reestablish leopard frog populations on private lands under the SHAs.
