YUKON DELTA: Sales outlet has record year
10 Region, December 31, 2004
Print Friendly Version
Visitors to the Yukon Delta Refuge visitor center can experience not only the popular museum exhibits, they can also purchase a wide variety of wildlife related books and gifts at the Alaska Natural History Association (ANHA) outlet. The Yukon Delta Refuge ANHA branch is one of nine refuge ANHA branches in Alaska. In Bethel, it's one of only a few places you can buy books. The 30 square foot sales area, about the size of a large closet, has experienced steady growth in recent years. In 2000, sales were close to $3,000. In 2004, receipts reached almost $19,000. Much of the credit goes to branch manager and Education Specialist, Donna Hanley, who is continually on the lookout for new materials to sell. She also attends events around Bethel where she can sell items to a broader audience like the Camai Dance Festival.
