Verde Watershed Partnership Workshop
Southwest Region, January 22, 2005
Print Friendly Version
Brenda Smith and John Nystedt, Arizona Ecological Services Office, participated in the Verde Watershed Workshop on January 22, 2005. The workshop was sponsored by a consortium of organizations in the Verde River Basin in order to initiate a dialogue on current and future water issues in the area. Residents, agencies, water users, and local governments are concerned that the rapid development in Yavapai County is occurring without sufficient planning for water uses in the future. The partnership was initiated to determine the committment of the communities to working toward a regional watershed plan. The participants recognized the need to bring additional stakeholders into the process. The next meeting is scheduled for April 23.
